Since its launch in 2003, LifePort^® Kidney Transporter is the preferred method of kidney preservation in over 315 transplant programs worldwide. Seeing the growing need in liver transplantation and leveraging the technology and experience of the LifePort Kidney Transporter, Organ Recovery Systems started work on a hypothermic machine perfusion device for donated livers. LifePort Liver Transporter needed to be safe, reliable, and easy to use, just like the predicate LifePort Kidney Transporter, while utilizing similar design and materials.

The mechanism of opening and closing the LifePort Liver Transporter had to be secure, consistent, and easy to use. We chose TorqMaster custom friction hinges because they are a trusted manufacturer of high quality products and had the capabilities to assist us in engineering a custom fit to ensure the donated liver is protected.
